Real Estate Photography: Do you allow price haggling? |
Posted: 02 Jul 2020 01:44 PM PDT Hey guys! I posted a while ago on here about a horrid client who essentially ripped me off by paying less than half of my invoice after being made aware of the price through a quote on the front end. After learning that lesson the hard way, I now quote EVERYONE before the job and require they accept the price in writing. This agent contacted me for another Matterport gig. Gave him a quote. He continually argued back and forth and was citing some other website that he found where he could get the work done cheaper. He told me the property was 1,700 square feet. Since he's wronged me in the past, I had a fellow agent check on that for me in Realist. The actual square footage was just under 2,800. I then confirmed with him (he couldn't argue with Realist info obviously) and I sent him the quote. My price was $284. He wanted to pay $225. I politely declined and reminded him he could get $50 off with a referral. (He has yet to refer anyone to me). Then he offered $250. Having been ripped off by him before, and already salty at this point toward him for seemingly lying about the size of the home, I told him my company is likely not a good fit for him and declined the job. He said he was going to go elsewhere. (In my head I was screaming "BYE FELICIA!") Got me thinking though... do you guys encounter agents trying to haggle your pricing a lot? Do you entertain that? He's the only one I've ever had this issue with. Maybe one other agent but we were friends so I figured he would want a discount lol. TLDR- Do agents try to haggle your prices? Do you allow them to? Posted: 02 Jul 2020 04:34 PM PDT How and where do you guys form contracts for your clients to sign? Do you charge extra for rescheduling if it's your clients fault? Do you charge extra for traveling and if so, is it per mile or a flat fee? How and when do you get paid for the work you do? I'm a fairly new real estate photographer in my area and I've been running into problems with my clients rescheduling on me, I know on this job I won't be able to charge extra since I don't have a contract where I specifically list out any extra charges (hence the 1st question).
