Beware of scammers targeting Real Estate/Aerial Photographers Posted: 10 May 2020 09:39 AM PDT Hey, just wanted to let you all know that scammers are around again targeting real estate photographers. I received this email: Subject: Aerial Photography Message: Hello there, Good Day trust you're doing well today. are you available for Aerial Photography ? Also do you accept credit card as a method of payment ? Please get back to me in the via email, thanks! I replied: Hello, yes I'm available and I accept credit cards (+3%) or Venmo & Cash App. Can you tell me more about what you need? They replied: Hello, Good day and thanks for your email, I will like you to take an aerial photograph of the whole site including the cardinal directions at 200 and 400 feet for an architecture and landscape use because the images will be used to provide an actual budget for the construction and also I will like you to get back with me on how much it will cost me for you to do a video-graphic site inspection for 30 days because there's going to be a fast-track construction on the site as soon as the blueprint is provided by the architect so I will be needing a drone especially for site inspection afterward and i will like to secure my space with you. I should have been there in person to do this inspections but I'm in the hospital at the moment recuperating from covid-19( don't panic i'm getting better lol ).Please get back to me with the figures as soon as possible so we can get the ball rolling. In other words the breakdown is as follows: 10 still images:Top down 200 and 400 ftLook West 200 and 400 ftLook East 200 and 400 ft Look North 200 and 400 ft Look South 200 and 400 ft and a short video of the site from the top. As soon as we're done with this within a week, the second week the blueprint will be out then we shall proceed with the construction and you will be needed on site for 30 days, overhead drone recording the site for inspection and monitoring. And of course a final image and short video when the project is complete, Here's the lot address [REDACTED] 0.28 acres. I will like you to get back to me with the estimated cost so we can proceed accordingly. Thanks I replied: I've attached an estimate for the initial visit. I'm located in Miami, so I'd have to drive up. As for the 30 days on site, could you tell me more about the requirements on site each day? What would a typical day look like? How long on site each day? How often would the drone need to be in the air? What would you expect as a final product at the end of the day? Being as I'd have to travel there, is lodging provided? I then received a phone call which I could barely hear, so I told him to text me. Here is the conversation where the scam comes in to play: https://imgur.com/a/XoTge41 Just trying to get a warning out to the community... NEVER agree to accept extra $ and transfer it to someone else. [link] [comments] |
