| Bubble Level on Tripod Head Lined Up and Still Producing Crooked Verticals Posted: 23 Jul 2020 04:47 PM PDT I used to use a Manfrotto 322RC2 as it has a bubble level on it and I can't recall any time when I had issues in post where an image seemed to be completely out of alignment. The verticals were always pretty much correct, with maybe one minor tick here/there in Lightroom to fix it. A couple of months ago I switched to a Magnesium Pistol Grip Ball Tripod Head (you can find it on Amazon) after starting 3D Tours, as the Manfrotto pistol grip would be in the images when panning down. The Magnesium has two bubble levels on it but they aren't doing the job. They are both on the same plane, yet the bubbles would never be in the same spot. I bought two different versions of hot shoe bubble levels - both the 3-axis clear cube, and also the small low-profile hot shoe cover that has a single bubble level in it. Both produced poor results. So I then bought a replacement RC2 release plate, as the one that came with the Magnesium head didn't have a bubble level on it (the bubble levels are lower, on the handle). I thought doing this would replicate the same functionality as the 322RC2 that I had success with. But it didn't. So my question is, are all of these bubble levels just junk? Or is there some type of lens/body issue, or calibration issue, that's causing the end result to not have straight verticals? The thing that's weird is I'll do a house and line up the bubble level on the RC2 plate for every shot, yet in post every photo will require different rotation/vertical adjustments to get everything fixed. If a bulk adjustment for every photo worked, I wouldn't care and wouldn't be asking this question. But adjusting every photo differently is quite annoying! I've thought about using a 2nd pair of tripod legs and attaching the Manfrotto 322RC2, and using one tripod for stills, and one for 3D. I would just like to minimize equipment if possible and having one set of legs with a head that works for both stills and 3D would be the most efficient route. Thoughts? (Here's an example image when bubble level showed "level"... look how far off it is.) [link] [comments] |
| Anyone heard of the World Real Estate Conference? Posted: 22 Jul 2020 11:20 PM PDT I've received two emails from someone at realestateusa2020.com, wanting me to give them my phone number so they can discuss with me my possibly being nominated for an award at their conference. I can only assume that if this is not a scam, then it's just going to be a sales pitch to buy a ticket to their conference or pay some fee to get the award. Because I can't possibly imagine me being nominated for any legit award. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with them? Maybe I'm being paranoid, but it feels a bit like a scam to me. I can't find the conference listed anywhere other then their own website. They have a page on linkedin and facebook and have a grand total of 5 people following them between the two.
