Real Estate Photography: Is there a better time to start than now?

Is there a better time to start than now?

I was meandering through Zillow just to see the current houses for sale, not for RE photography, just to pass time hah. I am in Vancouver and this was a slice of the city, so many for sale! I am thinking that there is no better time than now to get into RE photography. I've been hesitant for about a year to get into it. I have done product photography, which included doing a bit of RE photography.

What do you all think? I was going to snoop through some listings and see if any listings need shots done. However, I still need to get most of the gear, mainly a wide-angle lens as I sold mine as I needed cash, unfortunately.

Do I need to invest in a drone, 3d room view tech, a stabilizer for walkthroughs, this early on?

What is the best way to build an aerial portfolio?

I just stated with regular hdr photography so I don't have many homes to practice aerials. How did you guys start your aerial photo/video portfolio. I don't want to fly a drone in front of someone's house without their permission.

How long does it take you to shoot and edit?

I'm about to become a real estate agent, but used to be a photographer. I'm debating whether to do the photography for my own listings, to save money and control the quality, or to outsource this process to save time and effort.

So, I'm just curious how long it usually takes you guys to shoot and edit one property? I'm likely to use the flambient technique with 3-5 brackets.
