    Real Estate Photography: Beginner pricing?

    Real Estate Photography: Beginner pricing?

    Beginner pricing?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 04:00 PM PDT

Hello I'm just getting started with this form of photography. I've done artistic styles of photography for fun for years but I need to start up a career but I have a few questions for the community. The main one being how I charge my clients.

I have some connections and I figured I would shoot for free for a couple of places. To get a portfolio and to help out some agents I know.

But this is what I can do but will need some practice. Whether that be with the new wide angle lens I haven't used, or the 360 camera I purchased.

The 3 things I would like to know how to price for is ...

    Stills

    Video

    Virtual tour

Also if there's anything that I can also offer other than those or what people generally like to see. I would really appreciate the useful information.

    Thanks everyone!

Matterport scanning as a freelance photographer - who pays to host, me or the realtor?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 08:09 AM PDT

Sorry if Matterport is a bit of a dirty word here but I'm thinking about adding it as a service (I bought an Insta360 ONE X camera which gives pretty decent results shooting in HDR) but I can't get my head around who actually pays for the service, because it doesn't seem set up for independent contractors to do the scanning, more for realtors to do it themselves.

The way I see it there's two options - either I as a freelance photographer pay for the hosting and then send a link to the 3D scan to my realtor clients, or the realtor pays and then I somehow am given access to upload scans to their account. It seems to make more sense for the realtor to pay the hosting fee, given that I might have tens or hundreds of houses to photograph each month, but it feels weird to have to ask realtors to sign up for a subscription and then give me their username/password login details to access their account/upload the scans.....?

Am I totally misunderstanding how Matterport is supposed to work for freelance contractors? Or is the point that it's NOT meant for freelancers?

    Hello everyone,

I am a realtor but I wanted to try myself out taking real estate shots. (Also blogging, travel, etc)

Anyways, this is the one I had my eyes on: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H484HLT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_bS5gFbKPAY2VX

Along with this lense: (updated) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K8942SO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_jAehFbKAGC1GW Or https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K8942SO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kBehFbR8H9KND

So you think I should go with the body only on the first link? And would the 2nd lense be good, or would you have something else to recommend?

My background is in Marketing and design, so playing with the pictures afterwards wouldn't be too much of a hassle. It also seems perfect for videos and my blog since its mirrorless.

Could someone please help me out/guide me? It will be very much appreciated. I just don't want to go over $7,000 all in all.

    Thanks!
