For realtors that have their own private office at their brokerage how much do you pay?

Mine is charging me $350 a month.

Where do you get your phone numbers?

    Posted: 04 Sep 2020 11:35 AM PDT

Bonus points if they're budget friendly. I'm new here (yes I looked at the new agent thread) and I would like everyone's opinions on where to get leads. Are there any free or cheap sources? I'm pretty broke and I can't pay $600 a month for phone numbers.

Appreciation post for our career and what we can do for our clients.

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 06:35 PM PDT

I'm ending the day today feeling really appreciative for this crazy career that we've chosen. The start of this week was an absolute dumpster fire with buyers missing out in multiples, feeling generally unmotivated, and the lender who we've been working with lately royally fucking up a deal that was supposed to close last week. It got to the point where our buyers were ready to forfeit their earnest money and not buy at all because they were so put off by the process of getting to their closing. However, these things happen, we push on, and try to give our clients the absolute best service we can by doing whatever we can!

Tonight, I was able to present an offer for my buyer in multiples, do some good negotiations with the listing agent who really seems to be a productive, smart agent and I was able to call my buyer and tell them their offer was accepted which resulted in lots of happy tears! We were able to get our closing back on track for our buyers with the lender issue by sheer persistence and standing up for what is right when we are representing these people though such huge life transitions! Tomorrow is closing day for 2 buyers who are both feeling great about their purchase and the opportunities it will provide!

If you've read through all of the word vomit, thank you. I just wanted to express to my colleagues how I am feeling really fulfilled tonight by what we do and how much of an impact we have on countless lives. Yes, this is ultimately a sales job but it's times like these that make me realize why I'm here and how skilled I truly am at providing exceptional service to my clients. The industry is a constant wave of ups and downs and I'm sure soon enough there will be a frustrating moment that gets me down but these are the days that keep me going!

Take a breath and think about why we do what we do and take pride in why we're here.

Need advice about selling home while living with handicapped mother.

    Posted: 04 Sep 2020 10:26 AM PDT

If this isn't the correct place to ask, please let me know and I will relocate my question.

What is a good way to carry out home tours when you have a handicapped person in the home?

My mother lives with me, my spouse, and 2 young kid in a 3 bed 1 bath house. Our aim is to find a bigger house because, obviously, we need more space.

How do sellers conduct walk-throughs or open houses with a handicapped person in the home whose has mobility issues.

    Thank you.

Thoughts on Houwzer from an agent's perspective?

    Posted: 04 Sep 2020 07:35 AM PDT

Hi! I'm kinda new to Reddit so please don't roast me TOO hard if I'm doing it wrong. Or not supposed to be here.

I work for Houwzer (as a content writer) and I am working on a piece about why agents should work for us. However... I'm not an agent and never have been, and I don't know many agents outside of Houwzer, so I want to make sure I'm adequately speaking to people's concerns (about Houwzer) or issues with their current brokerages (AKA, the problem we hopefully offer a solution to).

If you have heard of Houwzer, what is your impression of it? Is there anything you perceive as holding you back from working there/any concern?

If you haven't heard of it, what issues have you experienced with past or present brokerages that could be improved? Examples: lack of transparency, don't enjoy lead generation/just want to help people buy homes...etc

thanks for any response! And feel free to private message me - just trying to get the general vibe

    Removing listing agent's signs

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 05:23 PM PDT

I'm starting to get really annoyed at listing agents who won't remove their signs after closing. My clients, the buyers, can't remove the signs themselves, so they start pressuring me, and what I ultimately did today was hire my own guy to remove the sign with my own money. Then the listing agent calls and asks me to please not throw the sign away. So there's an added next-day delivery charge.

I'm trying to look at the big picture. I got a pretty good commission out of this deal, so I'm not going to sweat spending a little money. But I just can't wrap my mind around these supposed sign companies who just happen to never be available to take signs down, allegedly.

I always hire my own people to do things, I don't work with sign companies. Are sign companies really that bad or is it the listing agent's fault.

What should I expect and look for when getting my real estate license?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 09:40 PM PDT

I'm in California and want to get my license. I have been looking online but want to make sure that I would be choosing the right (legitimate) school/courses since I've seen people also fall into scam courses.

My most recent search by led me through a real estate company I'm familiar with to ADHI LLC.

What else should I be looking at? Any suggestions on places to get my license?

    Recommended MacBook?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 09:31 PM PDT

Hello, my wife recently passed her exam and will start working for a broker soon. We're either going to get her a new laptop or hand her down mine (2015 MacBook Pro).

I thought for sure that all she would need is something lightweight, like a cheaper Air or maybe even a iPad with a keyboard attachment, but googling the question brings up a lot of blog posts and most of them seem to recommend a MacBook Pro, but no specific reason other than very generic lines line "lots of power and space are needed". Space is easy to get with external hard drives. Why does she need so much power? Are real estate apps really that demanding on the CPU?

    Thinking of becoming a Realtor

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 06:07 PM PDT

Lately I have been very unhappy with my current career and been thinking about becoming a realtor. I currently work in the wireless communications industry, more specifically in the oil field right now. I've been in if for almost 15 years but the passion isn't there anymore. Maybe because here in Alberta it has a very uncertain future.

My wife makes good money and I am not too worried about having a commissioned based pay. But I am scared to make the transition. Im basically looking for advice in getting started or your personal opinions. Most realtors I have talked too/worked with when purchasing a home seem to love their job. It just seems like something that I could be good at.

Heard there are ways to get a free real estate license? Are those still valid during the corona virus?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 04:50 PM PDT

Hey so I heard various ways to get some or all of the real estate license for free. Wanted to pick one up as another possible revenue source when the economy comes back.

I believe I need 135 hours prior to testing?

My father has a broker's license and is a practicing attorney in the state of California. Can I use this to my advantage?
