Real Estate Photography: Matterport Alternatives - EyeSpy or Kuula?

Real Estate Photography: Matterport Alternatives - EyeSpy or Kuula?

Matterport Alternatives - EyeSpy or Kuula?

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 03:58 PM PDT

I have been using the Theta Z1 with the Matterport Capture app and it's been a nightmare. The app is super slow with the 360 cameras in a way that it is not with their proprietary cameras (they claim it is because it is still considered BETA mode).

The last property I scanned was a mere 1600 sq ft and had TONS of technical problems when scanning. Besides taking double the amount of time (average of 40 seconds per scan) to make and render the scan, crashing and needing to be restarted multiple times, the app completely misaligned the rooms. I had to go back and waste nearly another 2 hours re-scanning the property (why would the same property take even MORE time the next time? I have no idea and Matterport can't answer this for me).

Their support is as abysmal as their app. I am done with Matterport. Unless you are using their Capture app with their Pro cameras, do not bother. In my opinion their software is slow, outdated, and clunky in comparison to what else is currently available.

The two alternatives I am considering are EyeSpy 360 and Kuula. EyeSpy can do 3D models that look even better than Matterport's crappy mesh. Plus, they have a ton of other great features. Kuula is another choice that looks promising and can do a 360 walk-through that is comparable but without the 3D model or floor plans.

Time is money and I am wasting far too much time with Matterport's terrible app. Being able to take one photo per room as opposed to having to scan every 5 ft as MP requires, means I could get through a house in a matter of minutes, instead of hours. Ditto not having to wait around for a slow ass app to upload and render each shot. I would also be able to get better quality images since you can shoot in RAW and edit your own photos before uploading, unlike with MP. Each time I have to do a MP scan, I am also inconveniencing the homeowner far more than seems necessary since they basically need to leave the property for at least an hour in order for me to scan. I hate the whole process of using MP.

Has anyone here used either Kuula or EyeSpy and can speak to their experience?

    Can't nail motion tracking

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 09:06 AM PDT

So in after effects am using Mocha Boris FX to track a specific plot, but when I set the points of the area I want tracked, the points are good enough only for the specific frame. When I press space the points start to go all over the place. I try to fix the points in a few frames but it's a mess. I followed some youtube tutorials and I can't replicate it myself. Any advice?

Advice for a newer camera with high end photo and 4K video capabilities?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 08:36 PM PDT

Hey guys, RE media specialist here. I'm a photographer, part 107 pilot, Matterport 3D specialist, and offer all of the services agents need besides interior video.

I'm shooting with an old canon 5D Mk iii and using a combo between HDR edits from it, and HDR stills with my Matterport camera.

I'm at the point where I have too many clients who want interior videos, and I am tired of saying no.

I have a budget of 4,000 for the upgrade. I need to pick between Sony and Canon. I cannot decide what the best camera for photo and 4K video is in 2020. Any suggestions or ideas?

I need to buy a new mirrorless body, a nice new wide angle, and some form of high end stabilization.
