Real Estate Photography: Should I invest in filters or lighting? |
Should I invest in filters or lighting? Posted: 02 Apr 2021 01:55 AM PDT Hi, I have been following the subreddit for a while and I have learnt so much, thanks everybody! I am watching Nathans Cool's and Baum's work and other content from the net also to learn how to shoot real estate (photo). The style that I like is more like "natural", AIRBNB kind of vibes; not so much like pure real estate, which feels more artificial for me. Some examples of the style that I am looking for: 1, 2, 3... My gear:
When I have practiced at home and at my friend's house I got heavy reflections on the marble or wood floor. I think those reflections would be fixed by using a polarizer or using some kind of artificial lighting. My Tamron needs a special filter adapter which costs 200€ second hand, which is expensive. My budget is tight so I would have to choose between the filter adapter + polarizer OR some external lighting, like speed-lights or some affordable strobe. What do you think? AirBNB does not offer photography services in Spain, so I wanted to get advantage of that, offer those myself and getting paid after building a portfolio. I would have to shoot real estate as well so I don't know in what should I invest first, filter or lighting... I wanted to share my scenario with the community, and read your opinion about the gear question. Again, thanks for sharing your knowledge and feedback on the sub :) TL;DR: I want to start shooting real estate and AirBNBs and I don't know if invest in a filter adapter + polarizer OR external lighting.
