How to shoot a higher end home and get the lighting just right?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 12:55 PM PDT

I've been doing Real Estate Photography for about 8 years now, mostly houses in the $180k-$400k range...but lately the realtor that I mostly work exclusively for has gotten some bigger clients/houses and landed a $750k house. So we go and shoot the house, I use a Canon 60D with my EF-S 10-22mm Wide Angle lens. I've always used the "C" (Camera User Settings Mode) but don't adjust anything, I just let the camera adjust ISO/Balance/etc...this has never really been a problem. I snapped all my pictures, everything looked fine.

It turns out the homeowner wasn't happy with either my pictures or the fact that they didnt get a showing in the 2 days my pics/the listing was up - I get it, these are people with money and they tend to expect results faster. So she basically "fired" the realtor and I, and went with another company here in the Twin Cities (I'm in MN - Minneapolis). This is a first for both realtor and I. The next folks the homeowner hired came out for pics and they all look amazing, of course. Any pics I had taken are "darker", theirs turned out BRIGHTER, but how? I'll post pics of how mine looked and theirs.

    Business vehicle

As a real estate photographer we drive daily for work. This has put a toll on my personal vehicle so it is time for a replacement. How many real estate photographers purchase a business vehicle and how is that working out? What should I be aware of going down the path of my business owning a vehicle for photography?
