How do you get to the top of the game?

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 06:42 AM PDT

I've been doing RE Photography for 4 years, and almost 2 years full time. I started out shooting shitty houses, like shitty shitty shitty abandoned places in the middle of no where type of stuff. Through grit, determination and a little luck I met some luxury agents which catapulted me into the luxury field. I've probably shot over 150-200 million dollars worth of homes in the last year alone (one 26 million dollar house by itself).

I love shooting luxury but now that I'm here I'm wondering how do you get to the next level? How do I go from shooting these luxury homes to shooting luxury homes / architecture for magazines like Architectural Digest or Dwell? What steps should I take to start getting big commercial jobs like hotels, colleges, hospitals, etc? I honestly have no idea how people get to that level..

Cinematic + Walkthrough Videos - Feedback Appreciated!

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 12:45 PM PDT

I've recently started producing videos for real estate agents in my area along with photos. I focus on making them cinematic, while still giving you a feel for the home. Additionally, I have guided "virtual" tours that I film on my iPhone in one take, then do voiceovers to best show off the home.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated! I know the home is a bit bland, it wasn't staged properly and is very, orange/yellow... so coloring was a bit tricky! Filmed on A7III with 16-35mm F4 (in HLG with Cinema color mode) and Mavic Air.

If I reach out to AirBnb hosts and offer free shoots of their properties (need to build portfolio) will AirBnB own the rights to the images?

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 07:20 AM PDT

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I'm wondering if I can get into any legal trouble with Airbnb doing this. I want to take images for AirBnb hosts because I need to build a portfolio and many of their "listings" have crappy pictures. The images will be displayed on my website.

Will I still have rights to the images? Should I have the hosts sign a contract of some kind?

    Thank you.

Cheap kit for video tours - what do you use?

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 06:33 AM PDT

I provide the full range of real estate photography but my customers are also asking if I will also provide cheap video tours for lower value houses. I'm a bit loathed to spend too much on a quality gimbal for my Canon (and editing would be time-consuming) so I was considering instead getting a GoPro with gimbal for this

Does anyone here use something like that? Or what kit do you use for video tours?
